Are you a woman researcher passionate about economic and social development or international relations in the Global South? The Margaret Anstee Research Fellowship at Newnham College, Cambridge, offers a unique opportunity to advance your academic career in a supportive and dynamic environment. Applications for the 2025-2029 Fellowship are now open—take this chance to contribute to meaningful global change.

The Margaret Anstee Research Fellowship is designed to assist exceptional women researchers in their early years of academic careers. The Fellowship concentrates on issues of global South economic and social development as well as international relations. The Margaret Anstee Centre for Global Studies will house the winning applicant, therefore supporting its active research community. Starting on October 1, 2025 the Fellowship is tenable for three years and eleven months. To improve their research, Fellows are urged to establish links with pertinent University of Cambridge departments or centres.

Application Process

  1. Webinar Participation: Attend the informational webinar on 18 February 2025 at 15:00 GMT to learn more about the Fellowship and ask questions. Registration details are available on the Newnham College website.
  2. Prepare Application Materials: Compile the following documents:
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Detailed academic and professional history.
    • Research Proposal: Outline of proposed research during the Fellowship, including objectives, methodology, and expected outcomes.
    • Personal Statement: Explanation of how your research aligns with the Centre’s mission and your career aspirations.
    • References: Contact information for at least two academic referees familiar with your work.
  3. Online Application Submission: Submit your application through the Newnham College application portal by 28 March 2025, 23:59 GMT. Ensure all materials are complete and submitted before the deadline.
  4. Interview Process: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview to discuss their research and suitability for the Fellowship.
  5. Final Selection: Successful applicants will be notified and provided with further instructions regarding the commencement of the Fellowship on 1 October 2025.
